Hello. Tansi. Bonjour.
Welcome to École St.Paul Elementary (Catholic) School (ESPECS). ESPECS is a dual track Catholic School offering both English and French Immersion from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Cree and French As a Second Language classes are also offered. We share a space with the St. Paul Friends of Playschool. Our community of learners is comprised of approximately 450 students, a dedicated and caring staff and involved parents and a supportive community. Together, we work to ensure the success of all of our students and help them to live out our motto to “Live, Learn and Lead Like Jesus / Vivez, apprenez et menez comme Jesus”.
Student responsibility and nurturing respect are ongoing goals. In order to encourage students to be kind, cooperative citizens and to maintain safe and caring school. We use restorative justice to promote problem solving, improve conflict resolution skills and develop empathy.
Improving student learning continues to be a focus at our school. Our staff is continuously working to improve instruction in the classroom. We continue to work on formative assessment whereby teachers use feedback to inform and adjust their practise and improve student learning. Literacy and numeracy are always areas of focus. Students are encouraged to become enthusiastic readers and writers by developing their phonetic knowledge, comprehension and critical thinking skills. We will also work to understand more about Truth & Reconciliation and the history of the people in this Treaty 6 Territory. The Makerspace in our building is a source of inspiration and pride.
Cooperation between staff, students and the parent community is so important. ESPECS School Council works with the school to guide, support, and help improve life chances for our students and provides many opportunities for parent involvement. Also, a dedicated Fundraising Committee works behind the scenes to provide such things as the hot lunch program, organize the milk program and Fruit Fundraiser to provide extracurricular programming. We look forward to special family events put on by these groups!
We invite you to check in at the office and visit our school. Be a part of the learning that happens here every day!
